Fished Berryessa out of Markley cove on Saturday. They are down to a one lane ramp but it is still pretty east to launch. Water temp was around 58 and it was mostly calm throughout the day. Got on the water at about 7 and started fishing in the narrows. I started catching spots right away on a 3.8 inch kietech swing impact fat on a ¼ jig head. I let it sink to the bottom and just slowly retrieved it. Later I switched to a ½ football jig and they were biting that too. I graphed a bunch of fish in the 18ft range but they didn’t wanna eat a drop shot. After catching some decent spots I went out to the main lake to look for some bigger largemouth. I fished for 3hours without a bite. I ended by fishing near the dam with a shaky head and caught one 3lb large mouth. All in all the bite in the narrows was alright but lacking bigger fish. It got harder to catch them as the day went on. Everyone I talked to at the ramp had the same struggles with the main lake, stick with a football jig and small swimbait and you’re certain to catch some spots in the narrows.
