Winds put a damper on fishing during the past week, but overall fishing for striped bass continues to be good. Anglers have seen the action pick up along the beaches and have been reeling in fish from four to eight pounds with the odd fish pushing past 10. Surprisingly, the stripers are still keying on shad despite the presence of stocked rainbow trout. In the Vegas Bay arm, fish in the one- to three-pound category are still taking cut bait. At B-5 road anglers have been catching stocked rainbows and striped bass. Baits resembling shad and rainbow trout have been taking stripers. PowerBait, Panther Martins, Mepp's spinners and silver Kastmasters have been taking trout.
