Trout Action Continues
Colorado River - Laughlin - Laughlin, NV

The Rainbow Trout action has been moving around the stocked sites a bit. in the Rotary Park area our two local anglers Brad Ednes and Dave Sale (orange shirt) have been doing ok. They are showing off their recent catch. Brad was using a rooster tail and this is where I helped him retrieve it after a bad cast. This shows that you have to be watchful as these hooks can get lodged in and can be hard to get back. This was a good color also working was night crawlers and various colors in power bait orange and yellow are favorites. further up stream in the casino area the trout bite is also a good spot. another of our local anglers Don Calvano was able to catch his limit using a spinner fishing from shore.
After a week or so from the stocking time the trout are moving around and looking for food. Anglers need to find these spots in order to be successful. in the meantime these fish are doing all they can to help with the caddis fly larvae. with the trout levels being brought up it’s a win win for all. Our anglers are catching fish and the fish are feeding on the caddis fly. I have been getting reports that our stripped bass are starting to come in. this is a little earlier in the year for them but welcome news for our striper fisherman. anchovies are preferred bait and lures are just fun if you like a little more active fishing experience.
With our weather starting to warm Lake Mohave will start to produce some Largemouth Bass and Smallmouth Bass. The Striper bite has been near the dam. Not much word from down river as of yet. Our next stocking of rainbow trout should be towards the middle of this month as we get closer I will get more information.
Thanks For all of your support ice that catch down and bring them in so we can share.
