The trout action has been excellent over the past week with some limits being reported over the weekend. The best baits have been yellow power bait, night crawlers, and Thomas Buoyant lures in the fire color proving best. Trout Cove and Pier #3 areas have been seeing the most action. Most anglers are reporting average-size trout in the 1 to 2-pound range. The last stock was planted April 8, with 1200 pounds of rainbow trout. The week of April 14-18 will be a skip week for stocking. Dixon is planting another 2400 pounds of rainbow trout on April 25 for the upcoming derby.

The Hidden Valley Kiwanis is holding their 11th Annual Charity Trout Derby at Dixon Lake on April 26 and April 27. There will be a $5,000 tagged fish, a Kid's pond for children ages 8 and under, and opportunity for other prizes. The lake will be stocked with 2400 pounds of Rainbow Trout for the Derby.

A few catfish were reported this weekend. Try using cut mackerel or night crawlers in the deeper parts of the lake or near the buoy line.

March madness is over . . . though April is showing signs of the bigger females showing up. The bass action is still happening this past week with a large number of bass anglers fishing the north shoreline and the shallows areas around the lake. Local bass anglers are reporting average size bass in the 1 to 3-pound range hitting on any type of plastics or swim baits. The conditions are prime for the big bucketmouths to make a showing.
