This mornings trout/steelhead fishing opener on the Sacramento River started out much slower than anticipated.  We launched at first light and wet some lines just above the Posse Grounds boat launch.  We hooked a few rainbows during the first few drifts, but I soon began to lose patience with the slow pace.  We fished all the way down below the Cypress St bridge only hooking a few fish.  We made our way back up river and found a pretty good bite at around 11:00-12:00 and landed some quality fish.  19 rainbows landed was the talley at the end of the day for us.  It was a great day with a great group of guys, it just happened that it was a little slow.  Thats fishing.  I would anticipate that the bite will turn on very soon and the fishing will be spectacular once again.
