DELTA
On the striped bass scene field scouts report that very little action is taking place out on the Delta waterways these days. Bait dunkers as well as trollers are struggling to locate a consistent bite. Most of the recent catches are small males in the 18 to 22 inch range, up to an occasional larger fish weighing about 9 pounds. A few larger fish continue to be caught in the Middle Ground area off the Firing Line in 30 to 35 feet of water. Recently, several huge striped bass in the 30 to 40 pound range were taken on live split tails including a 49 pounder taken by a 7 year old girl this past week.Windy days keeping most off the big waters, in search of sturgeon but on less windy days, the sturgeon bite continues to be consistent off the Mothball Fleet, Suisun Cut and the deep water off Pittsburg. The best baits continue to be salmon roe, eel strips and grass shrimp. On the San Joaquin River the striped bass seem to be scarce. The fish have not schooled up and continue to be scattered throughout the system.

SAN PABLO BAY
Heavy winds have kept most off the water recently. Striped bass are becoming scarcer, but they are still in the bay. A few sturgeon taken off the Pumphouse in the sturgeon triangle Keith Fraser of Loch Lomond Live Bait and Tackle in Loch Lomond in San Rafael have a good supply of live mud shrimp the shop. You are reminded to take a little extra bait with you due to the bait stealing juvenile crabs and other trash fish. The need for rain to flush the bait stealers out of the system will take care of that problem.

PARDEE LAKE
The trout fishing at Pardee Reservoir has been fantastic  with shoreline anglers getting the best action. Easy limits was the rule in the 13” to 14” rainbow trout. The best baits providing the best action were PowerBait, Power Eggs, Pistol Pete lures, nightcrawlers and salmon eggs for a mixture of holdover rainbows.The big fish of the week weighed in at 8 pounds. Trollers had success using hot steel Rapalas near the surface and with hooch’s tipped with white corn in 25 feet of water. Information: (209) 772-1472.

LAKE AMADOR
Lake Amador Resort continues to release about 1500 pounds of Mt. Lassen rainbow trout per week. The trout are moving into the shallows and the shorelines in 2 foot depths. The best baits are PowerBaits, Power Dough baits, and Mice Tails have been really effective.Trollers are finding less action than the shoreline anglers. The lake now is 18 feet from the spillway.

CAMANCHE LAKE
The  trout and largemouth bass fishing remains consistent at this popular reservoir. Trout anglers are taking quick limits of Mt. Lassen Hatchery rainbow trout with Power Dough Baits, Rapalas or Kastmasters.Trollers are dragging a variety of Speedy Shiners or grubs. The lake has dropped slightly to 74% of capacity.
