Fished Clear Lake out of Clear Lake Oaks with my friend David Gretler. Water temp in Rattle Snake was 56 and stained. Fished around the outside of the Keys for the first hour without a bite. Ran north to State Park at the creek opening. Caught my first fish on a 5” Keitech Fat Swing Impact on my first cast. I thought we had found the fish but after about 20 minutes of no bites and seeing the bobber fisherman with live bait not catching, we ran up lake to search for fish. Long Tule Point , Adobe Creek, Rocky Point ( Boat camped on Rocky right where I wanted to fish and wasn’t leaving) and no fish, we decided to go back to State Park. We caught a few small fish off the high spot outside the creek on both Brown on Brown Jigs and Cin/blk flake twin tail grubs. Water temp up to 58/59 by late afternoon and a ¾ moon rising. Ran back to Rattle Snake and fished around the Keys with no bites and cooler, dirtier water than up north. Began the next morning fishing inside the Keys with 56/57 water temp and stained. Ran back north to Soda Bay and found a large school of bass between the docks. 1 to 8 # fish schooled together but not locked on beds. Caught a few smaller fish on dropshot 5” Yum Stick baits brown/purple wacky rigged and Lucky Craft Pointer SP. Ran back down lake to the mouth of Buckingham Marina and worked south toward Anderson Island and caught a number of 2# fish on the Pointer. The water temp was 59/60 and stained but clearer than Rattle Snake. We didn’t see any female bass on beds, but by the time you read this, the lake should be wide open for spawning toads.

Water Temp 58 to 64, Stained to 3′ visibility. Wind was calm to 10 mph with low 70’s air Temp Tide was falling I caught the top of the tide at first light. I hadn’t fished the river since last August and really made no plans of my route. Reports were scattered from cold muddy water and tough fishing conditions to complete opposite. Tournament results were starting to gain weight with the Delta Rats (which I’m not), but I was going to...... Read More
