We fished Shasta Lake today after dealing with 5 days of being evacuated due to the Carr fire in Redding.  It was good to get out on the water again and it would seem the fishing remained as close to normal as expected.  We had rods bending in short order and brought some nice rainbows to the boat for the ice chest.  Surfece temps actually dropped and the fish seem to be hanging out at about 60'.  The morning bite was good, but slowed rather quickly which kept me busy looking for bites.  I had heard the big moon slowed the bite, but with the low light penetration during the day because of the smoke filled skies, it made sense that the fish would be a bit finicky.  We fished a half day and limits still would have been possible had we fished the full day.  I have more trips this week so I'll have a better read on what the patterns are moving forward.
