The East is running at 165 cfs right now and is still hanging in there pretty good. The water temps have come down 5 or 6 degrees over the last week or so and that certainly helps with the fishes health. We’ve of course had some reports of the fishing being slow but we’ve had more good reports than bad. The best techniques still seem to be nymphing with caddis nymphs and small midge patterns. As the water cools the caddis will likely start to go away which usually turns on the streamer fishing. There has still been some pretty good dead drift crayfish action. There are still good numbers of fish hanging out in the faster water but again, as the water cools they will probably start to move into the slower water and deeper pools.
Recommended Flies:
Buckskin caddis, Fox’s poopah, LaFontaine’s deep sparkle pupa, silver streak, rainbow warrior, san juan worm, squirmy wormy, flashback emerger, WD-40, disco midge, top secret midge, radiation baetis, dead drift crayfish, dark lord.
