Winter steelhead fishing on the Siuslaw was good before the recent rain and should be good as it drops back into shape later this week and into the weekend. Fishing has been best around Whitaker Creek for both boat and bank anglers. The Whitaker Creek trap continues to catch fish after each rise in the river level indicating that fish are moving in the system. Fishing should be good as the river clears up this week and into the weekend.

Lake Creek steelhead fishing has been fair this year so far. The river was high over the weekend but should fish well this week. The majority of fish are being caught near and around Green Creek. Hatchery fish in the Siuslaw system return to Whitaker Creek (Siuslaw) and Green Creek (Lake Creek). Bobber fishing with bait/jigs, drift fishing, and casting lures are good techniques to catch a Siuslaw winter steelhead.
