Lake Camanche Fishing Report April 14th
Lake Camanche - Wallace, CA
Brandon Pekarek posted on FB 4/7 and wrote, “Hit Lake Camanche again today with my son and my buddy Ron. In the water at 6:30 and straight for Big Hat Island. Trolled speedy shiners at 14′ at 2.8 mph and had multiple takedowns, sometimes even doubles. We landed the first 6 in less than 2 hours and then finished the day with 3 more for a total of 9. Off the water by noon because It was hot as hell out today and lots of boats. All in all a great day with my son and my work buddy. Answered Question: yesterday the majority of the fish were caught on variations of orange colored lures. But the week before when we caught 13 there was no particular color pattern.”

Brandon’s second post to FB, “Man what an epic day at #LakeCamanche went with a couple of co-workers and my buddies dad to show them how we troll. We were on the water by 6:45 and went straight for Big Hat Island. Put out six rods 4 on the downriggers ranging from 5-20′ and two rods on the surface all trolling Speedy Shiners in various colors with some ProCure scent gel on them. The action was non stop every 20 min we were catching fish, sometimes multiple hookups. The biggest came in at 6 pounds followed by some other fatties along the way. We trolled the island to dam triangle at speeds of 2.8-3.1 m.p.h. We called it a day at 1 pm when the bite finally died but not before landing one last fish on the downrigger bringing the total fish count for the day to 13! The picture shows 12 cuz I forgot one in the live well on accident. All in all, today was a FANTASTIC day and we all had a great time with 27 pounds of fish to end the day.”
