NOW BOOKING Stampede Kokanee. If you have not heard yet, Kokanee fishing at Stampede has been amazing in the number of fish we are putting in the boat. Boat limits have been the norm with limit sticks full of 14" to 16" kokanee. We are also releasing another 50-75 fish per trip. It has been nearly impossible to have 4 rods in the water at a time. If you are not catching 10+ fish an hour, something is wrong in your set-up and you need to book a trip.
Available morning dates for July are 10,11,14,15,18,20,21,25,26,28,30. Dates in red are Saturday or Sunday.
This is the time of year when I run a morning and afternoon trip, but please call me first before booking an afternoon trip as we are getting into monsoon season and it may be too windy or unsettled to fish the afternoons. Normally an afternoon trip is booked 2-3 days in advance when there is no room in the morning trips. Morning trips start at 5am and we are off the water before 1pm to take the second group out and then we are off the water by 8pm.
All rods and tackle are provided and if you require a left handed reel, let me know before the trip and everything will be ready to go. All you need to bring is a SIGNED AND PRINTED fishing license, food and drinks, and a small ice chest with ice for your catch which I will clean or fillet to your liking. I highlight a signed and printed fishing license because in the state of California, a picture on your phone does not qualify according to DFW's regulations.
Now the thing to remember is that the mornings can be quite cold. With the lake at an altitude of almost 6000' many forget that there is still snow on tops of the mountains for a reason. When its 100 degrees in the valley, many clients are surprised when they show up wearing a tank top with shorts that its in the low 30's in the early morning hours. And if there is a light breeze, it feels even colder. So come prepared!! Dress in layers. Remember you can always take layers off when it warms up.
Tight Lines Guide Service will be fishing Stampede Reservoir, Boca Reservoir, and Donner Lake through Mid September.
