Between fishing Shasta Lake and the Sacramento River this summer, I've only been on Whiskeytown Lake a few days.  Today I fished Whiskeytown Lake and experienced some pretty good Kokanee fishing.  The sonar was showing more Kokanee than I think I've ever seen during any other season I've had on Whiskeytown Lake.  There are a lot of smaller Kokanee, but there are some really big Kokanee this year too.  Todays biggest Kokanee measured in at a solid 18".  Downriggers were set at  45'-75' and we hit fish everywhere in that range.  Most of the bigger fish either came early or came from the 75' level later in the morning.  Pink presentations tipped with Pautzke Fire Corn soaked in Atlas Mikes Garlic UV Gel Scent took the most fish today.  This season is far from over on Whiskeytown, but I'm going to bet next year will be even better than our current year by far.
