The damselflies are all over the lake this month and the fish are breaking the surface all over to get at them. The nymphs of the damselflies have coincided with the hatch of the perch fry this season. Combine this with a record “high water” year, and you have an exciting time to fish streamers, nymphs, midges, and callibaetis imitations. Everything is on the menu currently, but it does vary from day to day which fly will work the best. The fish are changing their feeding behavior at different times of the day as the conditions change. Locating heavy holding areas will get you into the fish along with fishing the right flies. It is a good mix of rainbows, browns and cutthroat lately. There are now fish in the shallow water in the channels and in the deeper water close to the weed beds.
