EAST WALKER RIVER
The East is still holding at around 30 cfs, the water temps haven’t seem to climb since last week and the fish are still feeling pretty good. It’s probably best for the safety of the fish down there to focus your fishing on the am hours of the day when things are a little cooler. The action on the river hasn’t been red hot but there are definitely some good fish being caught. It’s mostly nymphing action right now, with no streamer or dry success being reported to us lately. Mainly caddis nymphs as well as some small midge patterns have been doing the best.

Patterns to try: san juan worm, rainbow warrior, silver streak, dark lord, WD-40, micro mayfly, radiation baetis, LaFontaines deep sparkle pupa, Fox’s poopah, z-wing caddis, buckskin caddis.

SCEIRINE RANCH
The ranch fished pretty good this week, again, the water is just a bit cooler on this section as there are some springs feeding it down there so it gets a little boost of colder water to mellow it out. Most of the anglers down there were able to get into 6 to 10 fish, mainly on nymphs. Dark lords, buckskin caddis, z-wing caddis, rainbow warriors and radiation baetis all did well.

HUNEWILL POND
We didn’t get any feedback from the pond this week, there are plenty of openings for the upcoming week if you want to book some time out there.

BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR
This week on Bridgeport we saw quite a few Kokanee caught up in the Buckeye Bay channels as well as some nice rainbows. The fishing hasn’t been off the hook but there are some good fish in the 2.5 to 4 pound range being caught. Some of the kokanee are already in spawning colors, if you catch these fish it’s best to let them go to finish their business, they aren’t really any good to eat anyway once they’ve turned color. Hopefully they’ll have some success spawning and we’ll have a new crop of them for next year! Trolling for perch has still been pretty good with lots of nice 1 to 2 pounders being caught with crawlers, small Rapalas and needlefish. There has been a little action still off of Rainbow Point and in the East Walker channel as well.

KIRMAN LAKE
No news from Kirman this week, we’ll keep you posted.

TWIN LAKES
The Twins have had some scattered good success this past week, not all of the anglers we’ve talked to got into fish but there were some good 2 to 5 pounders caught here and there. There were some fish caught this week trolling spoons like needlefish and Thomas bouyants, also some fish caught on bait like pinched crawlers and power bait. Some of the fly anglers have been having good luck stripping streamers with sinking lines as well. In a week or two the weather patterns will likely start to change and the water temps will start to drop, when this happens the fishing should get really good again!

WEST WALKER RIVER
We’ve started to get some good reports from the West this week, bait, lures and flies have been getting into some fish. The DFW hasn’t done much planting up there so far this season though the West is on the schedule for this week. We had one customer who reported getting a limit with a couple 3 to 4 pounders in the mix this week.

VIRGINIA LAKES
It sounds like Trumbull Lake was the hot spot in this area for the week, based on the reports we received. There were lots of nice fish up to almost 4 pounds caught up there. The Bridgeport Fish Enhancement Foundation also planted some large fish in Little Virginia last week, a few of them have been caught but there should still be a bunch in there! Kastmasters and Thomas Bouyants should get some bites for the lure anglers, pinched crawlers and mice tails for the bait folks. Fly anglers could go with matukas, seal buggers and soft hackles.

UPDATE:
July 21, 2019 - Tickets are now on sale for the 10th Annual Fishin’ Mission BBQ and Concert on Labor Day weekend! The last couple years this event has sold out so if you’re planning on attending be sure to get your tickets in advance! You can go to http://fishin-mission-foundation.org for more information! All of the proceeds from this concert go to the Bridgeport Fish Enhancement Foundation.
July 7, 2019 - Another great 4th of July celebration is on the books for Bridgeport! The weather was great and it seemed like one of the largest crowds ever came up to Bridgeport to celebrate! Hopefully even more folks will be able to come and enjoy our little corner of the world next year!
June 23, 2019 - Yesterday was the Bridgeport Fish Enhancement’s annual fishing tournament, it was a great success! The tourney sold out a couple days ahead of time so if you plan on going in 2020 be sure to get your registration information in early so you don’t miss out! There were lots of fish in the 2 to 4 pound range weighed in with a couple over 4 pounds. We also saw stringers weighing on over 12 pounds for the day. This is a great fundraiser for the BFEF and all the money generated goes to planting more quality fish in local waters!
