September is here on the Truckee River and hopefully some cooler weather.

Always glad to see August end. We’ll have some really good fishing around the corner here soon. Depending on the weather. Mornings are cold now, and the afternoons are warm.

Excited to get on the sticks back in Nevada on the Truckee River. I mostly stay away from the lower river mainly as the water is too warm most of the summer. I did a few morning trips down there this summer, but that’s about it. West of Reno is much cooler water wise. Cooler daytime temps and cooler overnight temps will get the fishing going down there. All over the river will get going here shortly actually. The fish are generally bigger on the Nevada side, that’s why I like spending so much time there.

Flows are great, highest flows we’ve had ever historically for this time. Lake Tahoe is full to the brim, meaning we should have good flows going into winter.

For now, not much change in what you should be using. Big golden stones, and crayfish for your anchor flies, something small up top. The streamer fishing should start heating up a bit as we get later in the month. Brown trouts start getting aggressive and like to chase something big.

Looking like a 2 day clinic will be going down on October 5th, and 6th.
