Las Vegas, NV – The Nevada Department of Wildlife wants to remind everyone that the AIS Watercraft Stations at Lake Mead and Lake Mohave have changed their hours of operation starting Oct. 1. The cleaning station on Lake Mead will now be open 8 am – 4:30 pm, 7 days a week, while operations for Cottonwood on Lake Mohave are now by appointment only. Please call 702-757-5757 to schedule an appointment.
This season marks eight years of NDOW’s Watercraft Inspection and Decontamination Program in Southern Nevada. Under the program, motorized and non-motorized vessels are inspected to ensure they are Clean, Drain, and Dry and are not carrying aquatic invasive species (AIS) prior to exiting Lake Mead National Recreation Area.
Inspectors have performed 18,735 watercraft inspections this season so far in the park. In 2019, a total of 589 watercraft required decontamination prior to exiting the park. The largest number of decontaminations occur on vessels containing standing water, which harbor aquatic invasive species.
Boaters are encouraged to continue to be a part of the solution by cleaning, draining, and drying their vessel before exiting any waterbody. This includes both motorized and non-motorized watercraft.

The Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) protects, restores and manages fish and wildlife, and promotes fishing, hunting, and boating safety. NDOW’s wildlife and habitat conservation efforts are primarily funded by sportsmen’s license and conservation fees and a federal surcharge on hunting and fishing gear. Support wildlife and habitat conservation in Nevada by purchasing a hunting, fishing, or combination license. Find us on Facebook, Twitter or visit us at www.ndow.org.
