The last week of King salmon fishing on the Sacramento River starts tomorrow.  The Sacramento River blew out yesterday afternoon, but not before Captain Justin Thompson got his group onto a nice, bright king salmon before the river became mostly unfishable later in the day.  Flows have subsided after a heavy rain for most of yesterday and we're hoping the river will be fishing again by Tuesday morning.  We're hoping this big push of water will bring up some fresh salmon and will provide some good salmon fishing before the river closes to salmon fishing on the 16th.  It would be a great way to close the 2019 salmon season which fell short of what we had hoped would be a really good year, compared to the last two seasons.  We had some great days on the Sacramento River and are still looking back at some positive things this season did bring to our year overall.  Personally, I was happy to see the number of in-river spawning salmon I did this year compared to the last 2-3 years, and am optimistic about this years class of wild spawners and where they will fit into our return numbers over the next 2-4 years.  The end to salmon season is always bitter sweet, but I'm looking forward to winter and spring when our lake and river steelhead/trout seasons shine.  We still have lots of good fishing ahead, it just won't be for river Kings again until next summer.  We would like to thank all of our great clients that came out to fish for King salmon with us this year and very much so appreciate your support.  I'll be sure to keep everyone posted on our 2020 King salmon season outlook and with anything that might be helpful when considering when and where to look forward to booking with us again next season.  Thank you!
