Ken had a fight on his hands when he caught this beautiful wild rainbow trout on a Shimano Kokanee rod!

Shasta Lake is looking really good for this time of the year.  Every arm of the lake is fishable and winter debris is minimal.  The water temps on the surface are in the 49-50 degree range and visibility is a good 10'.  The rainbow trout fishing has been hit and miss, but when the bite is on, there are some descent rainbow trout being caught.  Most of the rainbows are still up high in the lake and 10'-20' is a good place to concentrate your efforts.  The brown trout fishing still a little slow with one or none being an average day right now.  March is traditionally a good time for the browns to start their spring bite.  Recently, we've been catching browns from 10' down to 50'.  No need to go any deeper than that in my opinion.  Top spots for catching spring browns are the Dry Creek Arm, Sac Arm, McCloud Arm, and the main body between the I-5 Bridge and the dam.  We'll be fishing Shasta through September so stay tuned for more reports from now through summer.  Thank you!
