The Kokanee in Whiskeytown lake are as abundant as I've ever seen them.  Giant pods of Kokanee are all over the lake and its not uncommon to see a dozen Kokanee or more jumping and breaking the surface all at once.  This is continuous and constant all day.  The Kokanee are in the Whiskey Creek arm, Under and around the 299 bridge and everywhere in open water that you look.  I dont know that I've ever seen a Kokanee boil on the surface, but its going on right now.  Kokanee in the 14-15" range are available now and we'll just see them get bigger as we get into the summer months.  Surface temps are a cool 51 degrees and although Kokanee are being caught on the surface, the best bite seems to be in the 25-30' range.  All the usual Kokanee set ups are working, but pink and chartreuse have been stand outs.  Put on some Pautzke Natural Fire Corn and you're all set to get out the net!
