Water temp: 65-67

Air temp: 44-65

Weather: slightly cloudy with light rain showers throughout the afternoon

Water clarity: 3-5 foot

Fellow RB Bass angler Rob Clarke and I started our morning fishing the outgoing tide early in the morning. We spent our time concentrating on submerged grass, tules, and rip rap with sparse grass, as well as ledges. When we got to our first spot, I picked up a Strike King double willow spinnerbait in a natural Shad color paired with a Yamamoto Zako in a Shad color as a trailer. The morning was slow but it picked up as the tide changed. The fish we found were on rocks with grass and submerged grass clumps. I decided to switch over to a 6th sense crush flat square bill in crimson claw and Rob was throwing a River2sea biggie in delta craw color, that’s when we started to find the quality of fish we were after.

As the afternoon approached the weather started to change and we began to get some rain showers. We continued to fish the same type of cover throughout the rain showers and were able to expand what we were catching them on. Everything from squarebills and lipless to spinnerbaits and X zone true center sticks in green pumpkin as well as junebug. We finished the day around 5 PM and both of our arms and hands hurt from the constant action.

Good luck and safe fishing
