Anglers have found good fishing at this Lincoln County reservoir with folks of all ages catching fish. Some anglers went home with a limit of 5 trout. Others caught and released largemouth bass.Plastics and crankbaits are working for the bass while trout are taking PowerBait and night crawlers. Bass are catch-and-release only through June 30. State park campgrounds are open at half capacity.

Anglers are finding good action for all species. Crappies and bass are both hitting well. Crappie are taking brightly colored jigs, bass are hitting plastics, and trout are taking worm combos and small flies. Campgrounds are open at half capacity.

At Government Wash anglers are reporting striper, catfish, and bluegill catches. The stripers and catfish are biting at night on anchovies. Bluegill are taking night crawlers and meal worms. Good bluegill action also is being reported at Echo Bay. Black bass anglers are having the most luck in the Virgin Basin. Smallmouth are chasing ChatterBaits and largemouth are hitting on shad-pattern lures.

With the higher temperatures few reports are coming in from Willow Beach. Those anglers who are still fishing from the beach are doing so at dawn or dusk. Kayakers are finding large striped bass using shad crankbaits. On the lake, black bass activity is keeping anglers busy. The fish are crazy about soft plastic Chigger Craws and Ned rigs. Boaters and kayakers are having better luck in the deeper waters. Shore anglers can access productive coves from Cottonwood Cove and Katherine Landing.

The river is producing nice striper catches near Davis Dam and throughout Casino Row. Anchovies are the go-to bait, but a shad crankbait or trout swimbait should also entice the fish. Reports of smallmouth bass catches are coming in just south of Casino Row. The fish are taking night crawlers and soft plastics. The weekends are beginning to draw large crowds for recreation, so try fishing in the evenings or on weekdays for calmer waters.

Warm temperatures have anglers and fish both looking for someplace cool to hang out. Look for trout action to be good as the sun rises and finish out the day with some bass in the late afternoon. Crappies have been hitting jigs at Cold Springs. Through June 30, bass are catch-and-release only at Dacey Reservoir and there is a 5-fish limit on bass at Adam's McGill, Cold Springs, and Haymeadow. Also, there is a 50-fish limit on bullhead catfish for both the Kirch and Key Pittman WMAs. The limit on trout is always one at Dacey Reservoir and five at the other waters on the area.

The Nevada Department of Wildlife stocked 5- to 7-inch Bluegill at all the urban ponds last month and this month. The agency planted  catfish at the end of April. Both species are taking small worms and corn combos. Fishing is best in the morning when the parks open or towards sunset where access is available. Recreate responsibly by giving your fellow anglers space to fish and pack out what you packed in.
