Got Monofilament? Recycle it!

Monofilament recycling bins like this can be found at locations around the state. Please put only used fishing line in a monofilament recycling bin. Dispose of lures, bait, and other trash in garbage cans, and remind others to do the same.

Monofilament fishing line is a great tool for catching fish, but it can also pose problems for wildlife and the environment when it's left in nature, wrapping around fish gills and bird beaks, sometimes fatally.
Since 2016, the Monofilament Recovery & Recycling Program has helped place over 140 monofilament recycling receptacles at freshwater and marine fishing locations across the state. Find out how you can help, and see a recycling location near you using the map on this page: https://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/monofilament-recovery
