Sacramento River... Woodson Bridge California

The recent full moon in early August has definitely helped push larger schools of large king salmon into the upper Sacramento River at Red Bluff, California.  The kings that we have been landing recently have been big and full of fight! There has been several hard battles won this week while back trolling sardine wrapped "old style" kwikfish on the Sacramento River.

We have seen more salmon hooked and landed back bouncing vs boondoggling this week so far.  No rhyme or reason, just the salmon have been more likely to take a bait back bounced this week.  Back bouncing with clients is some what of a lost art as of late.  We have continued year after year to offer the best salmon catching techniques to all of our guests. This includes back bouncing home cured roe/puffballs, Back bouncing sardine wrapped “old style” kwikfish and power drifting roe/puffballs through all of the top salmon holding waters of the Sacramento River.

Guides Dave Jacobs and Ryan Tripp both continued to send clients home with fresh Sacramento River king salmon recently with the largest king weighing 26 pounds.

Salmon fishing on the Sacramento River will begin to peak at the end of August and continue to peak into September. If catching a king salmon on the Sacramento River is on your wish list of things to do this Summer/Fall, give guide Dave Jacobs a call at (530)646-9110 or visit his website at www.sacramentofishing.com
