Weather: The weather has been warm.

Clarity of water: Murky about 4-foot visibility near the Marina, once you get past the Lower Narrows it clears up and it is about a 15-foot visibility.

Temperature of lake: Holding at 72 Degrees F.

Hot spots: Across from Marina, Lowers Narrows, Heron Bay, and the Dam.

Favorite lures for Bass, Stripers: Swimbaits, Flicker Shad, Bass Jigs, and Kastmasters.

Striped Bass- Anchovies , Swimbaits.

Catfish- Sardines, Anchovies.

Fish Plants: There have been no fish plants since we have been open. We do not know when the plants will resume.

 

Once again here is a report from our very own Dr. Al Hurwitz who is one of our regulars:

Al Hurwitz of Saratoga and Abbey Lev of Sunnyvale trolled the lake on 10/15/2020, looking for various species of Bass. We trolled Panther Martin Spinners some 10-15 feet below the surface and caught 12 fish, including 9 Smallmouth Bass, l Striped Bass, and 2 Largemouth Bass. We applied scent to the lures. The fish were not shy when they struck the lures, probably because they were in a pre-winter “feeding mode”. Most of the fish were caught along the eastern rock wall just south of Heron Bay. We were somewhat surprised to find the fish close to shore over structure, as opposed to being in open water as is usually the case in the fall. Their location on shore may have been due to wind and current pushing forage onto the shoreline. A significant number of strikes and hookups occurred around midday when the “moon transit” time (12 noon) took place. We have found the time period spanning 1 hour before through 1 hour after the moon transit time very helpful in targeting and catching fish. An unexpected surprise was catching two good sized Large mouths, a 2.5 lb. one pictured with Abbey in the below photo, and a 4 lb. one pictured with Al in the photo below. All 12 fish were released. The water clarity was fair to good, surface water temperature 67-71 degrees, air temperature up to the low 90’s, and the winds mild to moderate.
