EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR

 Rainbow, tiger, and brown trout have all been hitting well this past week. Anglers are reporting good fishing with night crawlers, garlic PowerBait, and Mepp’s spinners in both gold and silver. Panther Martins and Rooster Tails also are generally a good choice. Temperatures are dropping into freezing ranges overnight, so the best bass and crappie action is taking place in the afternoon. The launch ramp is still closed due to low water conditions.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIRNDOW recently stocked the reservoir with rainbow trout. Anglers are catching fish with flies, spinners, worms and commercial bait such as PowerBait. Bass and crappies are taking a variety of jigs. The water is low, and the vegetation remains high, making fishing along the shorelines difficult.

LAKE MEAD

Black bass action is picking up in the Las Vegas Bay and Callville Bay areas. Anglers are reporting success using topwater lures, spinners, and crankbaits, all in shad patterns. Anglers targeting striped bass are seeing the most action early in the morning or just after sunset. Live shad and anchovies are the baits of choice. Bluegill can still be found biting worms in the shallow coves of Government Wash.

LAKE MOHAVE

 Water levels remain low at Willow Beach and throughout the reservoir. Rainbow trout are taking PowerBait and spinners thrown by shore anglers at Willow Beach. Kayakers are having success for large striped bass when trolling lures in rainbow trout patterns. On the reservoir, stripers are boiling in the early morning and just before sunset. Fish between 5 and 7 pounds are hitting a variety of lures when cast into the boils. Topwater lures are working well for both striped and black bass. Channel catfish upwards of 5 pounds are taking chicken liver fished from the shoreline near Katherine Landing.

LAUGHLIN

Anglers are catching limits of rainbow trout following recent fish plants. The fish are hitting spinners and flies in the early morning. Look for fish breaking the surface of the water to feed on caddisflies. Striped bass are taking shad lures and anchovies from boaters throughout Casino Row. Most fish are weighing between 2 and 5 pounds.  Anglers targeting catfish are catching fish up to 10 pounds on stink baits fished along the shorelines. Black bass action remains slow on the river.

 WAYNE E. KIRCH WMA

Action for rainbow trout continues to be good throughout the area, with the fish taking a variety of dark lures, and baits where permitted. The Nevada Department of Wildlife recently stocked area reservoirs with rainbow trout. With waterfowl hunting season underway, sportsmen can enjoy a morning or evening hunt with a day of fishing in between.

URBAN PONDS

 Action has been a little slow around the ponds with some catfish taking night crawlers and stink baits. Bluegill action has been best in the afternoon when the water is the warmest. They are taking night crawler pieces and meal worms. Persistent anglers have gotten some bass out of Floyd Lamb Park using dark colored jigs and plastics.
