We need rain, and we need it bad here in Northern California. We have late fall kings in the Sacramento River currently, but most of them are south of our target areas in Anderson. We've had really clear water this year and with flows from Keswick stuck at 4,800 cfs, there hasn't been much incentive for the new kings to move upstream. We're only expecting a 1/2" of rain or so in the valley, but we'll see much more in the foothills and mountain passes which will make its way into the Sacramento River tributaries the next few days. It won't provide instant relief from our low water conditions, but it will certainly get a few Kings moving up river. The same can be said for the steelhead although we have been catching steelhead and rainbow trout since the fall salmon run fizzled out in mid October. A bit of rain can only help and I'm sure it will finally get this late fall salmon run on the Sacramento River going.
