Trout season begins in two weeks on Saturday Dec. 12th. The Lake will be open seven days a week beginning on 12/12, but will be closed Christmas day.

On November 18, 2020 Escondido’s City Council voted to update the Lakes & Open Space Division’s rental and user fees. New fees will take effect on December 1, 2020 and are available for viewing on the city website.

Catfish can be found throughout the lake but are particularly active at the West Buoy Line. Lake Wohlford cats are partial to shrimp, cut mackerel, and chicken liver.

Largemouth Bass can be found lurking around structure. Top water plugs, crank baits, and dark colored plastics are what’s working.

Each month Whopper Contest winners in four categories are awarded a free fishing and boating permit. For information on the contest or fishing conditions, please contact the Ranger Station at (760) 839-4346.
