EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR

Much of the lake still has ice with 6 to 8 inches of ice. Anglers have found success using orange PowerBait and night crawlers. Always check for clear ice before walking out onto it. ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR

The reservoir is still mostly covered by thin ice which is unsafe to walk on. There are a few small patches of open water along the shoreline. For up-to-date ice conditions contact Echo Canyon State Park at 775-962-5103.

LAKE MEAD

 Both shore anglers and boaters are reporting moderate success for striped bass in the Boulder Basin. Shore anglers are throwing live shad or soft swimbaits, followed by a slow retrieval. Boaters are finding fish at almost 100 feet using live shad or anchovies. Black bass are slowly becoming more active in the Las Vegas Bay. The fish are favoring green pumpkin soft plastics on Ned rigs.

LAKE MOHAVE

Anglers visiting Willow Beach are catching limits of rainbow trout from the fishing pier. Trout are biting on mice tails paired with pink eggs and some Rooster Tails. Striped bass anglers are having better luck further south using trout-patterned swimbaits. On the lake, black bass anglers are targeting deeper coves for fish between 2 and 4 pounds.

LAUGHLIN

Red and yellow spinners are producing limits of rainbow trout along the Colorado River. When the bite slows down on spinners, anglers are switching to a worm and PowerBait combination. Striped bass in the 1- to 3-pound range are taking anchovies along Casino Row. Kayak anglers are reporting larger stripers chasing trout swimbaits just south of Big Bend State Recreation Area.

 WAYNE E. KIRCH WMA

Conditions across the reservoirs are questionable at best. The reservoirs are nearly covered with thin ice, but any shoreline access is limited. The Nevada Department of Wildlife urges visitors to use extreme caution while visiting the area.

URBAN PONDS

Recent trout plants have provided good action for trout anglers. The fish have been taking a variety of worms, bright Rooster Tails, and rainbow-colored PowerBait. Recent rainstorms and cold temperatures have slowed action for catfish and bass. The limit at urban ponds is three fish regardless of species. And no fish or fish parts can be used as bait. Please dispose of unwanted fishing line in recycle bins or trash receptacles.
