Opening day of Trout season was a big success, thank you to all our loyal and patient customers for coming out. Big fish of the week belonged to Nathan Femple of Santo who caught an 11.30# trout on a mini-jig at the east end of the lake. Other notable catches included Noel Calangan’s 9.40#, Richard Meadows’s 9.10#, Max Blomgren’s 6.30#, Johnny Dobb’s 5.50#, Fred Wolfrom’s 5.40# and Charles Carpenter’s 5.10# trout. The trout are hitting mini-jigs, mouse tails, inflated nightcrawlers and powerbait. The best results as of late have come in slightly deeper water.

Largemouth bass can be found lingering around structure. Garret Ott of Huntington Beach caught & released an 11.10# bass on a trout plug in Oakvale Cove.

Catfish can be found throughout the lake and favor cut-mackerel or chicken liver. Alicia Smith of Escondido caught an 11.00# catfish Thursday using chicken liver near the East Buoys.
