Down on the Lower Owens River, the fishing has been quite fun. Dry droppers, nymphs, and dry flies have all been getting the wild browns to bite. The highlight of the day has definitely been the BWO hatch. If you find the right pool, bend, or run, that holds a good volume of fish you can get into some great numbers during the afternoon hatches. 3 weight rods are perfect for these fish during the hatch.

The drift boat sections have also been fun with small streamers, nymphs, and dry flies. The hatches have been pretty consistent, but the surface bite has been good some days and other days you may not even see a fish rise. Take advantage of the hatch window by having a dry fly rod rigged and ready. Remember, the fish will be feeding higher in the water prior to the hatch, and smaller streamers and Baetis emerger imitations will get you on the fish. Try our #16 punk perch dark and light for a good imitation.
