The trout fishing was slow this week due to the rains, but the bite should turn as soon as the water clears thanks to Wednesdays plant. The bite could turn on as early as this weekend depending on the weather. There was a tie this week for big fish honors both David Sisombath of Escondido and Taylor Oshinski of Valley Center weighed in a 9.10# trout. Other notable catches included Jesse Tran’s 7.30#, Alicia Temblique’s 6.70#, Mike Villanueva 6.60#, and Frank Naredo’s 6.40# trout. Bait with a little scent on it, dipped in garlic for example, might improve your chances of catching fish until the water clears.

Crappie are being caught by boaters trolling for them. Crappie respond best to golden shiners or mini jigs.

Catfish can be found throughout the lake and favor cut-mackerel or chicken liver.

Other Notable fish included James Kent’s 9.10#, Breylon Hearn’s 8.10# and Roy Duncan’s 5.80# trout. Powerbait or powerworms (yellow& orange) and inflated nightcrawlers...... Read More

The trout fishing has slowed a bit, but are still being caught particularly from the southern shore. Look for the pace to quicken with Wednesday’s upcoming plant. Mousetails, powerbait, and inflated nightcrawlers are what’s working. Largemouth bass are active but primarily in deeper water. Dark colored plastics, swimbaits, and trout plugs are all solid options. Crappie are biting in numbers, but not tight to shore. The best results have come by boaters who either locate a school suspended in one of their...... Read More
