-Trail Conditions--
Another week of amazing weather and another week of trails opening up. We have reports from folks who completed the North Lake to South Lake loop this week and while they found a little snow atop Muir Pass and a section on Bishop Pass it was mostly clear sailing and totally doable for most.
All of the lakes in Dusy Basin and on our side of Bishop Pass are iced out and the trails are mostly clear for hikers and backpackers. This is going to be an epic year with the the mild winter and early access...penty of folks will be able to make up for lost time in 2020.
Sabrina Basin also is accessible with little snow to contend with and no special gear needed.
Parking is back to normal up at South Lake. Make sure to adhere to posted signs as there is dedicated parking for both day use and overnigh use. As always, overflow overnight parking is available along South Lake Road anywhere BELOW the Parchers Resort entrance. Overnight parking is prohibited between Parchers and South Lake.

--South Lake--
We received an updated reservoir forecast this week and there is about 10% less snow than expected and the runoff is running a few weeks late. What this means is that we're going to have an abbreviated season up at the lake. IF things go as expected, we hope to have motorboats in by June 25th and pontoons available for 4th of July weekend. Obviously this is all tentative and dependant on the lake level.
Not a lot of fishing pressure at the lake but people are catching a few off the rocks below the launch ramp, boiler cove and for the folks who hike back to the inlet. We hope to get some fish stocked within the next couple weeks, including some Idaho fish.
Based on the weak snowpack and the reservoir forecast we are expecting a VERY short season for private boaters, probably mid July through mid August but we'll have to wait and see. Please keep an eye on our fish reports for news of when the water is up on the ramp.
Hot Spots: Boiler Cove. Inlet
Hot Lures: Thomas Buoyants, Minijigs, Kastmasters
Best Flies: Bead-Head Nymphs, large black ants.
Best Baits: Gulp Pinched Crawlers.
Trolling: No boats yet.
---Weir Pond—
Lots of little Brook Trout on the chew with the occasional Rainbow and Brown but it's been super quiet up there.
--Bishop Creek--
Both forks of the creek were stocked but the fish are spread out. Don’t spend too much time in a single spot…if you don’t see any fish or get bit within the first 30 minutes, probably best to move along to the next hole. Keep moving until you find a pool holding fish, if you find one you’ll find more. Salmon eggs were the best producer.

--Fish Stocking Update—
DFW stocked Lake Sabrina this week, and with South Lake being too low, they stocked the South Lake fish there too. Obviously that's made Sabrina the hot spot. They have motoroboats available now and pontoons will be out ASAP. The fish were on the smaller side but the good news is that there are fish! Private stocking begins soon and we'll be hitting South Lake, Lake Sabrina, and both forks of the creek.
