With cooler nights over the past two weeks, water temperatures have decreased on the Truckee River, but anglers are still being advised to avoid the heat and fish in the mornings. The upper Truckee River is currently flowing around 220 CFS out of lake tahoe. Anglers should focus on fishing the faster water pockets behind rocks. Cooler water is also being released out of Boca Reservoir into the Truckee, so anglers could focus their efforts near the Boca inlet. The fishing has been good using small caddis, small san juan worms, ants, small stonefly nymphs, or midges. Some notable patterns anglers should try are Hadden’s Crawdad size 6, Truckee Creek Crawler size 4, Cutters EC Caddis size 14, Elk Hair Caddis size 16, Rios Rock Grinder size 14, Jigster Baetis size 18, Juju Baetis size 16, or Parachute Adams size 18.

FLOWS: Tahoe City 217 CFS, Glenshire 227 CFS, and Farad Exit 509 CFS
