Action: Opens coho retention seasons.

Effective dates and locations:

Lake Washington (King County); North of the Hwy. 520 Bridge and East of the Montlake Bridge and including that portion of Sammamish River from 68th Ave. NE Bridge downstream): Open to fishing for Salmon from Sept. 15 through Nov. 30, 2021.

Lake Sammamish (King County): Open to fishing for Salmon from Oct. 1 through Nov. 30, 2021.

Species affected: Coho salmon.

Rule: Min. size 12”. Daily limit 4. Release all salmon other than coho.

Reason for action: This area had been closed under a co-manager agreement to protect Lake Washington coho salmon, which have had poor returns in recent years. Early season fish counts at the Ballard Locks indicate that the coho return is strong enough to support a recreational fishery for coho salmon in Lake Washington.
