The Upper Kern campgrounds are closed until September 17th with the board meets to discuss extending the Nation Forest closure. The Upper Kern water temps are very warm, and the fishing has been tough. The Lower Kern Bass bite remains excellent for both Smallmouth and Largemouth. The Bass are on the smaller side, but the numbers are great. Anglers have been scoring 30 to 50 fish days on Get Bent Baits, Roostertails and small crankbaits. Catfish are being caught with worms, chicken liver and cutbait. At the time of reporting, the Upper Kern River at Kernville was flowing at 80 CFS and the Lower Kern River was flowing at 111 CFS.
