This years return of King salmon to the Sacramento River is much larger than anyone anticipated. Hundreds upon hundreds of Kings are currently occupying many areas known for the good fishing up and down the river from Anderson to Corning. It will be interesting to see what the final return numbers to Coleman National Fish Hatchery are by seasons end. I expect it will be a robust number and we'll likely see the hatchery close its fish ladder doors on the fall run, leaving thousands of fish in the closed waters of Battle Creek in October and November. With fall run numbers up, I expect the late fall run to be a good one as well. Add thousands of hatchery steelhead returning to Coleman Hatchery in October through February and we have another year to remember! if you haven't fished for river King salmon this year, I would suggest you consider it before the fall season comes to an end. Many of our local fishing guides have available dates and most are really fishy dudes. It shouldnt be too hard to find a good guide to get you on some good river salmon fishing over the next three or four weeks. Our team of guides are all booked through November, but we do have some December salmon/steelhead trips available now. Call (530) 510-2925 for more info! Thank you!
