Solid reports back from the upper river, adult and halfpounder steelhead have shown up in good numbers. Salmon are now on beds, so be throwing the 'Legs & Eggs cocktail if you are dead drifting nymphs. Swinging flies will work great on these early season fish, no need to get super deep until the water cools off. A Rage head with an intermediate singing Polyleader will keep you off of the shallow stuff, but get an Assassin or small intruder right in front of the fish. Hoh-Bo Speys in black and chartreuse, Brett's Klamath Intruders in just about any color are great flies. Heck, while it's still warm enough, throw on a Muddler or your favorite skater and have at it, you should pick up some fish. The Klamath is good right now!
Hot Flies:
Eggs:
• Clown Egg
• M.C. Redd Reaper - Champagne
• Micro Spawn - Shrimp Pink or Salmon Egg
• Boles Bazookas
Nymphs:
• Pat's Rubberlegs - #4-8
• 3-D Nymphs - #8-10
• Red Copper Johns - #14-18
• Gordon's Amber Wing Prince - #14-18
• Articulated Marabou Leech
