Castaic Lake rose to 50 percent of capacity and debris are still stacked up at the launch ramp. A few boat anglers braved the debris and reported excellent striper fishing while using cut baits, worms, vertical spoons, and trout imitation swimbaits. Most of the fish have been small, but when anglers connect with a feeding school the action has been epic. There have been few reports from bass anglers, but finesse baits and spoons in deeper water worked for some nice large and smallmouth. Catfish ate chicken liver, dip bait, and cut sardines in deeper coves around the lake. Castaic was on the stocking schedule last week, but the debris delayed the trout plant. Trout anglers reported good fishing, and dough baits, Mousetails, nightcrawlers, and Kastmasters all worked for bites.
