The Upper Kern remains one of your best bets for limit style trout fishing. Weekly plants since the beginning of December are continuing through the middle of February. The planters have been coming on Get Bent Baits, salmon eggs, crickets, spinners, and worms. The Upper Kern River was stocked this week in Section 4, Powerhouse #3 to Riverside Park in Kernville, and Section 5, Fairview Dam to Lazy River Lodge. Thew Lower Kern was stocked for the first time this season in Section 1, Democrat Beach to Lower Richbar, and Section 2, Democrat Beach to Sandy Flat. Trout have been going for minijigs, salmon eggs and Powerbait. The Lower Kern bass bite is fair to good on crankbaits, jigs, and spinners. Catfish can be found on dip baits, nightcrawlers and cut baits. At the time of reporting, the Upper Kern River was flowing at 280 CFS and the Lower Kern River was flowing at 149 CFS.
