Success Lake rose to 24 percent of capacity, and bass fishing remained fair. Due to last week’s cold front anglers reported fishing deeper for bass. Most of the bites came in 20 to 40 feet of water on finesse baits. Warmer weather could change the pattern any day. Anglers should be ready with Senkos, drop shot, and creature baits. Other springtime favorites include Carolina rigged plastic lizards, jerkbaits, and small bluegill swimbaits. There’s a trout plant scheduled for the week of March 20, and dough baits, minijigs, nightcrawlers, and Kastmasters are normally good choices for the stocked rainbows.
