Wild steelhead can be retained above Hog Creek boat ramp from Feb. 1 through April 30. Wild steelhead must be 24 inches in length to harvest, with a limit of 1 per day/3 per year zone wide in aggregate with other SW rivers where wild steelhead are allowed to be harvested (consult regulations). 

This last weekend saw anglers catching a mix of fresh winter fish and down runner summer steelhead. Fresh fish are being caught more regularly, and the small bump in flow from the last two days of rain have helped color up the water and get fish moving. There were reports of fish in the canyon and below Rainie Falls a few days ago.

Winter fish are being caught from Grave Creek to Rogue River. Now through April is the time to fish the Rogue.

The Rogue is forecast to come up over the weekend with the next rain forecast for Saturday. Hopefully this comes to fruition, as the earlier week’s precipitation did not materialize as much as was originally forecast. The Grants Pass gauge was 1,760 and looked to be cresting on Wednesday, mid-morning.
