Las Vegas, NV: With Memorial Day Weekend fast approaching, the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) and the National Park Service (NPS) will host a media event at Lake Mead National Recreation Area to raise awareness for responsible boating and water safety.

There is no formal presentation at this event. It is solely designed to get members of the media out on the water to talk about smart, safe, and responsible water-based recreation. Private on-the-water ride along opportunities will be available from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. with either NDOW game wardens or NPS Rangers. English and Spanish-speaking rangers and wardens will be on hand to discuss what they are looking for this summer to ensure boater safety, along with how individuals can prepare and protect themselves and their loved ones to have a healthy, safe, and fun summer on the water.

This joint partner event takes place during National Safe Boating Week (May 21-27), a national campaign that partners state and federal agencies to promote safe boating during the week leading up to Memorial Day Weekend.
