Access is available to All vehicles. With the illegal introduction of brown bullhead in this lake, it probably will not have many holdover trout. Your best chance of success is when it’s stocked on the week of May 16.
Fishing has been good for fish in the 6-8” range. There have not been any larger holdover trout due to the brown bullhead. This lake will be stocked the week of May 23.
In September of this year Heart Lake will be lowered and treated with rotenone to kill off the illegally introduced brown bullhead. These fish have exploded in this lake resulting in poor condition of rainbow trout and low overwinter survival. Hopefully once it is restored no one will reintroduce brown bullhead as resources aren’t available to keep treating it.
