Action: Opens a portion of the Cascade River to fishing for hatchery spring Chinook seven days per week.
Effective date: June 1 through July 15, 2022
Species affected: Chinook salmon
Location: Cascade River (Skagit Co.) from mouth to Rockport-Cascade Rd. Bridge.
Rule: Open 7 days per week. Daily limit, 4 hatchery Chinook, including no more than 2 adult Chinook, 12-inch minimum length. Night closure and anti-snagging rule in effect.
Reason for action: This fishery was scheduled to be open to sport fishing 4 days per week to prevent gear conflicts with treaty fisheries. Treaty fisheries for spring Chinook in the Cascade River have concluded for 2022 so closure days are no longer needed.
Additional information: Anglers are asked to cooperate with creel personnel collecting catch information. Monitoring and evaluation of fisheries is an important part of ensuring we are meeting our conservation goals for salmon. This rule will supersede the July 1 – 15 portion of this fishery that will be listed in the upcoming July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023 pamphlet.
