Light crowds and good fishing on Shasta Lake this summer!

Shasta Lake has been a ghost town all year and as much as I hate to see the marina's taking a big hit during their summer seasons, I'm really enjoying the very light fishing pressure. I'm only seeing four or five trollers each day at best and many days just a few. Great parking and and an easy walk to the docks is very convenient both for me and my clients. We're starting to see some summer type fishing action and the bigger trout and Kokanee are being caught every trip now. I haven't been targeting anything specifically but am enjoying catching rainbows, browns, Kokanee, a few Kings and some spotted bass too. Why limit yourself to one species when you can catch them all using the same technique! Early mornings are best as the afternoon bites have been few and far between. Its hard to beat trolling small presented spoons because the baby Shad are starting to ball up in the lower lake and the game fish are starting to key in on them. I'm currently finding most of my bites at 40'-50' feet deep but there are fish feeding on the surface as well so don't neglect the top 10' early in the mornng. We're still dedicated to fishing on Shasta through July into early August but we'll transition to the river salmon fishing fully by mid August. Anyone wanting to fish Shasta Lake should start thinking about it now. Its going to be a great summer season! Call Jaynie @ (530) 510-2925 for more information and available dates. Thank you!
