Trout fishing has been consistent on the lower Deschutes. Trout anglers have had the most success nymphing. Hot weather in the forecast this week might increase caddis on the river.

Salmon fishing on the lower river is currently closed as well, except for at Sherars Falls, where salmon fishing opened Aug. 1 under permanent rule. Salmon fishing on the lower Deschutes will re-open concurrently with the steelhead fishery on Aug 15.
