Amacher boat launch and parking is current closed for improvements and will be inaccessible from Aug. 22 to Sept. 30 due to construction. Anglers looking to float this section of the North Umpqua should plan accordingly. Hestness boat launch may be the closest alternative available to the public.
Summer steelhead fishing will pick up with recent rains and there should be lots of fish around for anglers. No closures are expected due to the number of summers expected to return.
With the low population of summers, anglers are reminded to handle fish with extra care this year. Practicing good catch-and-release techniques will help ensure we have fish in the future.
Trout fishing is open year-round upstream of Slide Creek Dam and in tributaries in this section. Fishing above Slide Creek Dam can be a great idea as the flows lower. Note that as of July 1, fishing in the fly water area is restricted to the use of a single, barbless, unweighted, artificial fly.
