Its November and that means egg drop trout and hatchery winter steelhead on the Sacramento River.  We have rain in the forecast and salmon preparing to spawn in the main body of the Sacramento River in the Redding to Anderson area.  Wild rainbow trout fishing has been excellent and we're starting to see some hatchery steelhead in the mix as well.  The presence of salmon full of eggs prior to spawning means these trout and steelhead are keying in on egg patterns.  Ripe salmon drop eggs with every movement and also drop eggs into their spawning redds.  Many of the eggs end up loose in the gravel and can be seen floating down to hungry trout and steelhead below the salmon.  For this reason, fishing with cured salmon eggs or artificial egg patterns can produce some excellent bite periods resulting in numerous trout and steelhead caught throughout the day.  Now is the time to get on the books for one of these fun flled fishing trips here in the Redding area.  We have available dates beginning mid month through the new year.  With our late fall run of King salmon season also quickly approaching, we are offering salmon/steelhead combo trips in November-December as well.  The combo trips are popular every year, and with good reason.  A chance for a big King salmon and several opportunities for trout and steelhead makes for an exciting day on the river for sure.  Call Jaynie at (530) 510-2925 for more information!
