Low dissolved oxygen levels and a corresponding fish kill were documented by biologists last winter, and gillnet surveys confirmed that no trout survived. The reservoir was restocked with 850 catchable-sized rainbow trout and 250 catchable-sized tiger trout. Prior to winter, fishing was good for smaller but healthy trout (12–16 inches). A water-quality monitoring buoy and SolarBee circulator were installed in the deepest part of the lake in the fall. The circulator will mix the surface water 24 hours a day, thereby reducing the potential for overwinter fish kills. Fishable ice now covers the reservoir, but there's open water around the circulator, which could cause thinner, weaker ice in certain spots, so please maintain a safe distance. Recent reports indicated fast fishing for 12- to 16-inch rainbow and tiger trout, using small jigs and spoons.
